I chased this promotion and it feels hollow
I grew up between Mogadishu and Nairobi, watching my mother balance three jobs and five prayers with the same quiet patience. I have chased this promotion for years, wrote the goals in the margins of my notebooks at night, and finally got the call last week. The new role means later meetings, business trips, and a calendar full of people who need my time. Yesterday I missed fajr in the tiny kitchen because of a client call, and my son's homework was left on the table, unread. I did want this. I worked for it. But instead of joy there is this hollow weight. Do I accept and provide in ways that cost my presence, or step back and risk the security we worked for? I would really like to hear if anyone else has lived this choice.
