I reverted last year and fumble Arabic
I reverted last year, after years of drifting, and I am fine with the basics. But in congregational salah I still trip over the Arabic. My throat catches on Alhamdulillah and sometimes I skip a word and hope nobody notices. It is strange because I was a doctor for forty years, used to steadying hands and quieting patients. I thought practice would fix this, but the shame of praying next to people who grew up with the language is heavier than I expected. I find myself choosing a corner or praying at home so my mistakes are private. Has anyone else felt this kind of embarrassment, and how did you live with it?
