I smile, but I feel quietly inadequate in faith
I have a friend who lives and breathes religion in a way that makes people stop and listen. She memorizes lines, posts Quran verses in our study group, and corrects my dua wording gently over coffee. I keep a dua journal and I write down answered prayers, but when she sits next to me on the bus or in the engineering lab and asks about my prayer routine, I get a hollowing feeling in my chest, like my little efforts vanish. I want to be happy for her and learn from her, but I also feel embarrassed about the fajr I miss and the quiet duas I whisper at my kitchen table at midnight. How do I sit with this feeling without lying to myself or letting it eat me?
