I turned down double pay and now I doubt it

I am Yasin, retired teacher from Bursa. Last month a former colleague called about a training position in the city, they offered me double what I used to earn. I said no at the kitchen table, tea gone cold, because something about the job did not sit right in my chest. I keep replaying the call, imagining how I might have changed things from inside, or whether I was cowardly for refusing money I could have used. I am proud and unsettled at the same time. Has anyone else walked away and then kept wondering if they made the right choice?
