How to share my revert story with a spouse
I accepted Islam in 2019 here in Manchester, and I still carry this odd mix of wonder and loneliness. I love the mosque tea after maghrib, the halaqas, the quiet thrill of praying fajr and walking home while the city sleeps. But when I think about marriage I worry: when do I tell someone about my pre-Islam life, my mistakes, the nights I felt ashamed? I remember standing on a cold bus toward Salford Quays after a halaqa, watching a couple hold hands, and feeling hopeful and terrified at once. For those of you who married after reverting, how did you share your past, and when did you feel safe doing that?
