I chased a promotion and feel strangely empty
A community member
I taught in Bursa for fifty years, and after much nudging I finally accepted the promotion I had chased for years, district coordinator, more meetings, more travel. Yesterday the team congratulated me over coffee, and I smiled while my kitchen glass of tea at fajr went cold on the counter. I saw my daughter’s voice note with a little laugh, left on read because I was packing files for an early bus. My imam saw me at the mosque and nodded, but I felt hollow, like I had won something that takes my place at the table. How do you carry a success that costs your family and your deen, without losing yourself?
