I got the promotion and I feel hollow
I just read the story on Athar about learning prayer through manual work, and it kept running through my head as I opened a WhatsApp from the principal this morning. I finally got the promotion I chased for years, the one with the office, the extra committees, and the pay that will help my mother. But it will mean more meetings, late reports, and even less time for my son’s Urdu homework and my quiet prayer. I should be celebrating, instead I felt empty, like the cup of chai I made and then left cold on the staffroom table. Has anyone else taken a step up and ended up feeling strangely hollow? How did you live with that feeling?
