I turned down double pay and now I doubt myself
I said no to a job that would have paid my family twice what I make now. The message arrived at midnight, a short contract, big promises. Something about the way they spoke about clients felt off, and I could not, in good conscience, agree. I tried to sleep on it, walked the kids to school with my scarf still unfixed, prayed fajr in the small masjid, and told myself I did the right thing. But every time a bill comes I hear that missed income, and I keep imagining a different me who took it. Has anyone else chosen conscience over money and still lives with the doubt?
