My kids are growing here and I'm terrified
Ramadan in our house is loud and small at once. We cram the living room with cousins, someone always burning the sambal, and at fajr I make kopi while the youngest hums a tune I don't know. I lie awake later, listening to my teenage daughter scroll in the dark, a message left on read, her Arabic halting and mostly in greetings. They were babies here, learning to say alhamdulillah between bites of ketupat, and now I wake afraid they will lose the language, the deen, all of it. How do other parents hold this without turning the house into a battleground? Has this been your quiet fear too?
