Revert identity: finding belonging after embracing Islam
I just finished reading A Trace of Guidance on the train home from work, phone propped against my knee, and it landed in that soft place inside me where the story felt familiar. I accepted Islam in 2019 here in Manchester. There have been so many quiet beautiful moments, like praying Maghrib in my tiny kitchen with the kettle still warm, but also nights when I feel oddly alone, friends who don't know how to ask, family messages that wobble between curiosity and worry. I keep thinking: how did others who converted find steady belonging? Where did you find people who understood, and what small things made the loneliness easier to bear? I'd love to hear your stories.
