Since becoming a mother I have no quiet corner
Since becoming a mother I have no quiet corner and no energy left for the worship that used to steady me. I remember a time when I would wait for fajr in the small courtyard, the coffee pot steaming, the prayer mat warmed by the sun. Now the mat is a place for my grandchildren to play with little wooden cars, and my mornings are calls for water, tying shoelaces, finding missing socks. I try to slip away for a few breaths of dhikr, but my mind is full and my body is tired. Did anyone else feel this loss of steadiness, and how did you carry your worship when there was no quiet?
