Softening My Islamic Language for Wider Reach?

I got a WhatsApp voice message from an editor today while standing on a crowded Istiklal tram, a half-eaten simit in my bag. They want me to present my next piece at an interfaith event, but ask that I soften explicit Islamic words, replace Allah with the Divine and remove direct references to salah. At fajr this morning I was in my tiny kitchen, steam on the window, and my mother texted a heart and "we are proud" after I told her. I want to reach more people, but I also worry about losing the flavor of what I believe. Has anyone balanced staying true and widening reach? How did you decide?
