When to Let Faith Be Known in Neighbors' Eyes

I read The Neighbor Who Didn't Know tonight and it landed in my chest like an old key. I am a retired teacher from Bursa, fifty years of lessons, most of them learned outside the classroom. I converted some years after I stopped grading exams. I still ride the 32 bus to the market, drink çay on my balcony, and sometimes wonder whether to say anything when old students call me Hocam and assume I am as before.
