I rush my salah to check my phone
Ramadan in a big Jakarta house is loud and soft all at once. At fajr the kitchen smells of coffee and steamed rice, my little brother still half-asleep on the sofa, and the city hums outside. Yet I catch myself finishing my salah quickly, eyes flicking to the glow on the floor where my phone sits, thinking about messages and feeds. I genuinely hate that I do this. I shorten my sujood without meaning to, and then feel small and guilty afterward. I am not looking for blame, just wondering if anyone else has felt this squeeze between devotion and distraction, and how you live with it?
